Shipping your car into a container provides reliable, safe and cost-effective service that meets your needs. If you have personal belongings that need to be shipped with your vehicle, shipping containers may offer safer service.
Although generally car shipping is cheaper than shipping containers, shipping containers can add flexibility and can match or beat car shipping prices where more than one vehicle is shipped.
With the transport of containers, there is the obligation of “Stuff” the container and the costs of transport to and from the port.
Container transport is not available for all vehicles, the maximum door height for a 20 “and 40” HQ is 3m and 2.58m respectively, which often means that motorists, trucks and shipping and vehicles with large roof loads may not fit in standard containers.
Oversized vehicles have Flat Rack options but generally it works to be more expensive than normal car shipping and does not provide the same safety as being sealed inside a container.
Standard containers are in two sizes; 20 ‘and 40’ in length. While a 20 ‘container is suitable for shipping a car or 4×4, a 40’ container provides enough space for two medium sized vehicles so it can be more profitable if you have more than one vehicle to ship.
Loading a car for container transport
Great care is taken to load your car safely so that it stays secure for the duration of the shipment to destination and does not move into the container either at sea or during loading and unloading Ship.
At the loading facility, your car is pushed into the container and carefully positioned before all four wheels are safely locked. The ratchet belts are then used to secure the wheels to secure the eyelets in the container to ensure that your car can not move during transport.
Sometimes the front and rear towing rings of vehicles can be used to secure your car securely in the container.
All car shipping containers must comply with strict safety rules confirming both their structural integrity and that they are considered wind and waterproof.
